Mr. Sewell G. Beasley, Jr., age 58, of Vidalia, died Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, following an extended illness.  He was a native of Jesup, and later lived in Jacksonville, Florida for several years before moving to Toombs County in 1975.  He was a 1984 graduate of Lyons Senior High School.  He started his career with the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1985, working at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville where he retired after eighteen years.  Sewell enjoyed NASCAR, Georgia Bulldogs, riding UTVs and going on weekend adventures with family and friends, going to church, and he loved his wife and family.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Sewell Gordon Beasley, Sr. and Earline Shuman Beasley Jones; two sisters, Polly Beasley Nelms and Belinda West; a nephew, Michael King; and his beloved pet, Buddy Lee.

His family includes his wife of twenty-one years, Brenda Moxley Beasley of Vidalia; seven siblings, Velma Ann Beasley, Homer Beasley and wife Judy, all of Soperton, Patsy Beasley Brinkley of Hazlehurst, Sandra Beasley Stevens of Soperton, Daniel “Danny” West, Hank Beasley and wife Becky, all of Blackshear, and Phillip Jones and wife Liz of Vidalia; one brother-in-law, Andrew Nelms of Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, March 13th, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Nelms officiating.  Burial will follow at Sharpe Cemetery.
