James TaylorMr. James “Jimmy” “Bear” Taylor, age 49, of Toombs County, died Saturday, March 9, 2024, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Cedar Crossing.  He was a native of Toombs County where he lived most of his life, living in Minnesota for ten years.  He was a truck driver for more than twenty years and worked with WBT in Hazlehurst.  He was Baptist by faith, a member of Sons of Conferdate Veterans in Higgston, and a former member of Toombs Stone Brothers.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, darts, playing pool, shooting his bow and guns, riding ATVs, UTVs, and sitting by a fire.  He is preceded in death by a son, James “Dillion” Taylor, former wife, Crystal Coleman Edwards; and a great-grandfather, Frank Gibson. 

His family includes six children, Brittney Coleman Pittman and husband Cody of Cedar Crossing, Casey D. Prestage and Liz Anderson of Reidsville, Jada Ewing and husband Michael, Jasmine Taylor, Ethan Taylor and Harlee King, and Trinity Taylor and Miguell Copeland, all of Minnesota; mother, Wanda NeeSmith Taylor of Lyons; father, J.E. Taylor of Cedar Crossing; one brother, Eric Taylor and wife Casey of Cedar Crossing; six grandchildren, Temperance, River, Noah, Ryder, Lurray, and Silas; one niece, Justice Taylor; one nephew, Jayce Taylor; and aunts and uncles.

The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, March 13th, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Toole officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
