Carrie Lou Phillips MorrisMrs. Carrie Lou (Phillips) Morris, age 89, of Vidalia, died Monday, April 1, 2024 at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia. She was born and raised in the Gillis Springs area of Treutlen County on the Ohoopee River and attended Gillis Springs Elementary and Soperton High School. She then moved to Vidalia and graduated from Vidalia High School in 1953. Mrs. Morris loved Vidalia because it was a small city that offered a better quality of life than living on the Ohoopee River. She worked as a box maker for 32 years at Palmetto Box Company in Vidalia and then retired from Walmart of Vidalia after 25 years as a sales associate. She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Augusta Phillips; her husband, William Henry Morris, Sr.; and four sisters, Irene Thigpen, Athena Glen, Adell Mull, and Marvelene Upton.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her son, William H. Morris, Jr. and wife Sandra of Ailey; two granddaughters, De Lisa Sapp and husband David of Cobbtown, and Kara Orleck and husband Paul of Woodstock; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Walker, and Destiny Willis and husband Daniel; and one great-great-grandchild, Walker Willis.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until just prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wilkes Funeral Home with Brunson McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
